This paved sidewalk and greenway provides a relatively flat route suitable for walking, running, and biking. Richardson Greenway is a rail-to-trail conversion which runs from Rumple Street in the heart of Troutman to Frazier Loop in Barium Springs, passing Troutman's Town Hall, Troutman Elementary and Middle schools, and a mix of offices, civic buildings, residences and businesses along the way. At the northwest end of the greenway is an historic campus which was the Barium Springs Home for Children. Among the highlights along the trail is the Troutman Depot, which is home to the Farmers Market on Saturdays throughout the summer. Occasional benches line the greenway, providing opportunities to relax.
This segment of Carolina Thread Trail is also part of the Lake Norman Bicycle Route.
