The 5-mile Falcon Trail connects the Village of Misenheimer at Pfeiffer University to the Town of Richfield, passing through Richfield Park on the way to its eastern terminus at the intersection of Danritch Drive and US 52. The portion of trail northwest of the park is mostly wooded and natural surface or gravel in some sections. Southeast of the park, the trail is gravel and frequently skirts rolling farm fields. Description

Connecting the Stanly County communities of Misenheimer and Richfield, the trail offers lake and agricultural views, as well as access to Pfeiffer College and many historic buildings listed on the Natural Historic Register. The historic Gladstone Academy (an 1890's schoolhouse) is close to Pfeiffer’s campus.

The Falcon Trail is over 5 miles long (in one direction) and the surface varies between natural and gravel, with short segments of sidewalk. The trail is designed for walking, hiking, running and bicycling and is of moderate difficulty. A nice feature of the trail are the two adjacent bridges (a swinging bridge and a covered bridge) which cross Richfield Lake within the park. The swinging bridge leads to an island with a picnic table. A variety of plants along the trail bloom in season.

The trail intersects multiple public roads, but most parking is located in Richfield Park. The park has restrooms, picnic tables and other amenities (fishing and disc golf). There are also restrooms in the gym on Pfeiffer’s campus

A grocery store, drug store, coffee & ice cream shop, and multiple restaurants are located in the center of Richfield, less than half a mile off the central section of trail.
