Twelve Mile Creek Trail at Walnut Creek Park stretches along Twelve Mile Creek for nearly 3.7 miles from Walnut Creek Park through Walnut Creek neighborhood to the South Carolina/North Carolina state line. This natural surface trail hosts a number or boardwalks and bridges.
The trail is located on the south side of the Twelve Mile Creek in the park and ends at the Carrington Drive Bridge. At the Carrington Drive Bridge you have to cross Carrington Drive to catch the trail on the north side of Twelve Mile Creek. The trail continues onto NC, becoming Twelve Mile Creek Greenway, with a 170-foot suspension bridge that spans the creek. The Walnut Creek subdivision is a planned development district consisting of over 900 acres which has been approved for 2,000 homes, 10 acres of future retail and commercial development and a 61 acre county park. In the Walnut Creek Park there are baseball fields, tennis courts, pickle ball courts, playgrounds soccer fields and plenty of parking. There is also a large covered picnic shelter and park office building with restrooms and concessions.
This segment will connects to the Twelve Mile Creek Greenway in Waxhaw, N.C. through the Prescot neighborhood and in to Town Creek Park.
