The Yadkin River Park Trail near Spencer is the gateway into the Carolina Thread Trail network in Rowan County. This 0.2-mile paved trail on the southwest side of the Yadkin River includes a landscaped plaza next to the the scenic bicycle and pedestrian river crossing known as the Wil-Cox Bridge. An excursion across this former highway bridge to another riverside park in Davidson County adds 0.25 miles to your hike or bike ride and includes fascinating views of one of the major rivers in the region. The river crossing location has much historical significance throughout the centuries.
