Description

The Statesville Greenway will eventually encircle the city but until then, there are numerous sections available for use. The trail at the 25-acre Martin Luther King Jr. Park is shaded and paved as it follows the bank of a scenic pond. Martin Luther King Jr. Park offers picnic shelters with grills, playground equipment, and twenty-four lighted regulation horseshoe courts. The trail connects to the Mac Anderson Park Greenway located off North Center Street.

To connect with the Mac Anderson Park Greenway, take Lakewood Drive south to a sidewalk along Harness Road and turn right. From Harness Road turn left onto North Center Street and walk until you reach Statesville High School. The greenway is located across from the school.

Trail Tips

Ride Safe
When biking, wear a helmet and use a bell to signal your approach to other trail users. Consider bringing a spare tube and pump so that you can fix a flat tire and offer help to other cyclists in need. When riding on roads, bike in the same direction as traffic.
