This greenway consists of paved asphalt, sidewalk, and boardwalk ideal for walking, running, and biking. This section of Little Sugar Creek Greenway provides connectivity between 12th Street/Alexander Street Park and Cordelia Park. Cordelia Park contains amenities such as a basketball court, outdoor swimming pool, sprayground, picnic shelters, play equipment, and walking trails. Alexander Street Park offers soccer fields, a playground, outdoor shelters, basketball and tennis fields. A section of trail within Alexander Park exists, and a connection between Alexander Street Park a greenway bridge connects to Siegal Point and 12th Street.
Views of uptown Charlotte area available near the 12th Street entrance to this segment of Little Sugar Creek Greenway. As visitors walk along the creek in summer months, they can catch glimpses of a few species of turtles that make their homes in this restored creek. Kids will particularly enjoy the occasional sighting of a Gulf Coast spiny softshell turtle, a flat turtle with a nose shaped like a snorkel-like nose.
**Please note that the southern terminus of Little Sugar Creek Greenway at the NC-SC state line does not have public parking. If you are planning a trip to that location, the nearest trailheads are at Pineville Lake Park and James K. Polk Historic Site.
